I booked Discover Lithuania for a day tour of Vilnius and Trakai after reading all of the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. The booking process was conducted via Email and the response was timely. Management answered all of my questions in excellent English and made the reservation for me. For payment, I was to just give the amount due at the end of the day to the driver. The driver/guide showed up at the appointed time in a large van. It was a full day tour, and we covered allot of ground with many sights in and around Vilnius. We spent some time seeing sights through the window, and some time stopping and walking around. It was a nice blend. The Driver had good English, but sometimes would not answer questions. He said would get to it at another time, and then didn’t. After 1/2 day in and around Vilnius, we headed to Trakai Castle that was interesting to see. The day went smoothly, no issue or problems.
This is a must do tour for someone visiting Vilnius, Lithuania for the first time. It was a long tour but we did enjoy our time and company from our tour guide, Inga. She is super amazing person and provided information and history of the sites we visited during our tour. Inga provided much needed information on the city tour, important sites to visit so we have some ideas on what sites to visit on next day on our own. Panerai visit was very informative yet we felt sad after learning the history and what happened at the site during WW2 and Soviet occupation. We did enjoy Trakai Castle tour, thanks to the good weather we had perfect time in the castle and Inga gave us enough time to explored the castle on our own. Since we were only 3 person plus Inga our guide, we felt that it was more of the private tour. We had lunch together at the famous kibine cafe in Trakai, thanks to the recommendation from Inga. It was one of the best pastries we have ever had!! We had a good time taking the tour and I would recommend this combined tour foreveryone visiting Vilnius for the first time.
26/01/18 and we’re in the Reformati Hotel in Vilnius. Our wonderful guide for the day (Andreus) picked us up for a personal tour of Vilnius and a run out to Trakai Castle. Andreas was a mine of information around the city and at the memorial park, which was a sobering experience indeed. Trakai was facinating, ably brought to life with Andrea’s encyclopeidic depth of knowledge and passion for the history of Lithuania. We had a delicious dinner on the Trakai shore and an exceptional local beer too. well worth the money. We finished the day off with a visit to the “Cat Cafe” in Vilnius to pamper ourselves with a hot chocolate and the company of a few feline friends 🙂
